Sturdy archer s3x freewheel

I had a 16t freewheel on my s3x. Took some effort to remove it. The 14t freewheel is too small to fit on the spline. It is Dicta brand. Can you get a 14t to fit on there?

As far as I know, 16 teeth is the smallest available for English threaded hubs. To go smaller, you need a 34mm.

As Dan says, the S3X hub is threaded with ISO-spec thread, for which the smallest single-cog freewheel is 16T due to the space required for the ratchet mechanism (multiple cog freewheels can accommodate smaller cogs, but only because the smallest cogs are offset from the ratchet mechanism).

There are smaller single cog BMX freewheels, which is what I suspect you purchased, but as you discovered, they do not work on an ISO thread hub.

But I can't help but wonder why you want to put a freewheel on the S3X hub, since a standard 3-speed hub with a freewheeling cog is far less costly than the S3X hub plus a single cog freewheel.

your 14t would be 9 spline, fixed, not freewheeling, on your S3X..

If 16T not as high a Top gear, as you desire, fit a bigger chainring, More T ..

with 16+T on the freewheel..

I'll sign the petition for the Sturmey-Archer corporation to rename itself "Sturdy Archer"

Perhaps they could branch out into furniture and rename themselves "Studly Armoire".
