Saddle keeps falling off!
 

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to cycling and have been riding my Mango Single Speed to work in London.

A few months after purchasing my bike, Someone tried to steal my saddle (the mind fathoms!) and ever since, the saddle kept coming loose no matter what and slipping backwards and rattling around, I continued to tighten it and a couple of months back my seat post connector snapped at the top, resulting in my saddle falling off into the road and leaving me being a bit sore!

I brought a new seat post (single bolt like my old one) and have used it a couple of times and my saddle still keeps coming loose! From what I can see my saddle isn't damaged but it just seems weird it's still happening! Could it be the actual saddle?

I've tightened it as best as I can, I sit back on it and hear a click and it's gone again so I must be doing something wrong!

Would anyone have any recommendations as it's getting bloody frustrating now!
Is there any kind of sealant I should try, double bolt seatpost?

Do you have a spare saddle you could try just to see if it is a problem with the saddle and not the clamping mechanism?

Destabilised, Some seat posts require one to set the saddle tilt prior to tightening. Setting the tilt often has a meshing teeth system that if the tooth of one is not into the channel of the other, it will loosen with use.

Basically insure the teeth a properly engaged.

What is the chance that the thief swapped out an identical but faulty saddle with your good saddle???

I recall reading some other posts .. BSO service test .. the ' Mango Single Speed " being the cheapest , New, bike
to be found on that Island..

the other fellow was a bit more Mechanically adept..

It was likely badly assembled in the first place , take it back to the shop it came from, and get the whole thing replaced, Perhaps with another ..

then promptly go to a Proper bike shop and have them safety check it.

In the US Wal*Mart has a similar bike assembled by random employees..




Although a bike, bought in a bike shoppe , will likely be better assembled, by people who just that ..

Needed: photo of the seatpost and the seat clamp beneath the saddle, so as to comment on how to make it work as designed. It should allow you to tighten it enough. Unless something is assembled wrong or someone buggered up clamp parts. We need a photo to tell this.
