BB30 Issues

Seems like my BB30 bearings don't take long to get 'muck' in them and start grinding a bit. I'd say it only takes 1000 miles or so. Is that normal? I've purchased sealed bearings but they're not really sealed. I actually took the side of and regreased one and it worked for a while longer but I'm tired of having issues. Questions - Does someone make a 'super bearing' that really is sealed and will last thousands of miles? Should I update my BB to cartridge style? Maybe that work better.

Thanks

What do you ride through?

Mine have approx. 7200 mi. on them without issue. I don't ride my bike with BB30 in the rain or snow.

Try some new bearings from manufacturers SKF, F.A.G or INA. Pricey, (around $15 per bearing) but better than OEM bearings. Look at the bearings you have in your BB at the moment for the bearing code number, I believe they are 6806 bearings, but don't quote me on that. Enduro bearings are OK, but bike specific so you're paying more for the name and the voodoo. I believe Enduro bearings are actually EZO bearings, a good Japanese company, but just slap their own name brand on them...but don't quote me on that, either. The one good thing about Enduro bearings is that they use Labryinth seals on some, if not all of their bearings. This is a 'double' protection to stop water ingress and contamination. Other manufacturers may do the same. Look into it. The seals are probably the most important part of bearings for bicycles.

Alternatively, just buy cheaper bearings and service or replace them more frequently. The difference between the 'best' bearings and cheaper bearings is the tolerances and materials used. It may not even matter in a BB30, a Formula One car, yes.

Would not be normal for me. I'd convert to cartridge.

I would get a praxis conversion and the cranks that would take treaded BB so basically Shimano. All these threads of press fit BB and problems go on and on. Ridiculous with mileage intervals of service. My bikes with threaded BB and external bearings have never need service combined 35,000 miles. I hope with enough messages the bike industry gets it because now I would only go threaded snd that may require steel or Ti. Even custom carbon and pay the price to avoid problems.

Yes, the endless threads on BB30 problems and the like are everywhere.
