Where do I find this road shifter spare part?

I'm talking about the whole plastic/metal/glass portion on top of each shifter. What are they even called? The metal frame is put into place and secured by two screws under the very tip of the rubber hood. The red gear indicator and insides are now exposed to the elements.

They are available as a small part from Shimano. Typically, online stores do not stock such parts, so find a shop you trust to look up the part in question, and see if it is (still) available for purchase.

Is that the Tiagra ST-4500?

The part is called Face Plate or Name Plate.

https://si.shimano.com/php/download.p...4500-2609A.pdf

Part Numbers:
Y-6LP 98030 Right H. Name Plate & Fixing Screw
Y-6LP 98040 Left H. Name Plate & Fixing Screw

Shimano ST-4500 name plate bolt set right Y6LP98030
Shimano ST-4500 name plate bolt set left Y6LP98040

Your Local Bike Shop should also be able to order the parts.

One issue is that Shimano has discontinued support for the face plates of the older shifters, so many of the older Ultegra shifters are impossible to get the faceplates for.

Thanks alot. That's really helpful. Not sure about model in picture I posted. They look completely identical to shifters on my bike, although mine say shimano tiagra double. I don't think that will make much difference.

How many gears do you have? 9 speed?

I think you can roll up the hoods and find the ID of most Shimano shifters near the base of the shifter body.

I would presume 2x and 3x levers would use similar faceplates. But each model is different.

Do a search on those part numbers, there's a bike shop in Germany that's brilliant for obscure parts like that but I can't think of the name off the top of my head. I'm in the UK and used them recently, they post anywhere.

Jenson USA has a good selection of small parts.

Looking for the same parts for my Tiagra shifters but no luck yet. I am digging this "old" thread in case anyone has found a way to get a hold of this spare part ?

Thanks but I'm looking for the name plates for the Tiagra ST-4500, those ones are for the ST-4600. Unless you're trying to tell me that theyre inter-compatible ?

Bike shop... they get repair parts to keep older bikes on the road, online sellers favor offering deals on the latest Kit.

I doubt you will fiind just the window, its just not worth it for shimano to inventory every small part, so they Dont.,, try clear packing tape ..

or expect to replace the whole lever..

...

Ha! Funny, I called my LBS and he told me to go online (he cited Amazon, ebay...) as he didn't have the part and neither his "dealer" had it.

Your odds of finding that part are low. The shifters are old by bike industry standards, and they're not high end. Shimano small parts availability is generally not great. If you need something, look up the component on si.shimano.com. Most parts have a model number on them—in this case ST-4500. Shimano is generally excellent at having exploded views with parts lists. Find the part number you need. Search both Google and eBay for that number and you may get lucky.

Sometimes for current production stuff I've had luck as a professional shop mechanic calling Shimano to get small parts not listed on their dealer portal.

In this case I'd advise giving up on replacement. I don't think the name plate provides a very significant amount of protection to the shifter anyways.
