What brakepad do I need for older city bike?
 

What type of brake pad can I use for the below brake caliper? It is a city bike from the 1970s. I suspect the pads could be original.

Do I use road brake pad? V brake pad? Something else?

Kool Stop makes pads called the "Continental", which are the best ones of this style I have used.

If you don't want to spend that much money, the Dia Compe "Grey matter" pads are decent.

Walmart has them for $3.99.

This type of pad is usually called a nutted pad. Better bike shops should have at least one brand or version on hand. Andy.

Another endorsement for the Kool Stop continentals. Black looks more traditional but the salmon ones work a bit better when wet.

Dia Compe (now Cane Creek) Grey Matter pads are another good option. Cheap, too.

Thanks I was wondering if those are the same and $8 for 2 pairs is the right price. The bike will probably be only ridden a few times a month and unlikely to go over 15 MPH.
