Mixing Hylex levers with Shimano calipers?
|
Certainly neither company would suggest it. Officially Tektro does not suggest the use of Shimano mineral oil in their brakes, although I've heard reports of it going OK. The XT calipers are designed around Shimano's Servo-Wave mechanism. The Hylex calipers work quite well, and there's a major chance that the Shimano calipers would work very badly, so I'd go with the Hylex calipers.

Maybe a bit late for the OP but the knowledge might be good for those trying this in the future. I bought my Hylex second hand and the calipers were leaky around where the hydraulic line attaches so I attached some XTR M985 calipers instead and they work great, no problems at all with over a year of riding.

How did you mix the caliber level. Did you use the Shimano or trip olives? |

Can I ask if you used the Shimano or trp olives? Cheers. |
