ok now re read " I have a sleeve as a spacer between the bearing inner races...
it slipped over the straight square taper axle.."
maybe that , absent a picture , will help.

Okay... do you have this sleeve in a Merlin? What's the relevance? "Rather than Outside" of what?

You're speaking in unconnected sentence fragments, so it is impossible to tell what you're talking about and how it relates.

Do plain bearings have an inner and outer race?

Sure. Every rotating part has to have at least two surfaces that ride on each other. Just a question whether you want to call those bearing surfaces "races" or not.

Does anyone beside you call plain bearing surfaces "races"?

Does anyone besides you post about plain bearings in a boorish attempt at a "gotcha" in a thread about Merlin pressed in BBs?

You've proven to be a rather nasty person, always posting put-downs. I'm not interested in supporting your illness - play time is over.

"I was only kidding around." "It was only an innocent question." "I was only pointing out the facts."

You post rude, petty, useless things in this forum all the time. You add zero value. Your plain bearing question did nothing to clarify what was being discussed, it was just another booger you've flicked into an otherwise useful thread. There's alway a couple of guys like you on forums that make everything just a hair worse without ever being enough of an obvious troll to get the boot you deserve. It is so tiresome.

Care to link those quotes to someone's posts? No, didn't think so.

Your "rude, petty, useless things ... zero value" judgments are just part of your own filter.

I don't care to do anything for you. I will be better about using the report button in the future though.

So you will report that others have opinions you don't like? Yes, that is special!

Let's apply your filters to this:

No, that you're being insulting, rude, picking fights or otherwise being unpleasant.

You never answer questions, yet you constantly post replies in the Mechanics forum.

"insulting, rude, picking fights or otherwise being unpleasant" are all in the eye of the beholder. Please continue to reveal yourself to us.
Just so you'll know, "never" is longer than 24 hours.

You have 2700 posts and only 315 times has anyone bothered to quote and reply to you. Oops, 316, now.

We're done.

That's a very important scoreboard you have there. It must add a great deal of meaning to your life.

I don't have a Merlin it's not my problem,
I do understand how a press fit square taper axle assembly can go together in a simple form..

Honestly Bob, I thought you were trying to add something relevant and was trying to get you to articulate whatever it was so someone could understand it. I'm sure it wasn't just nonsense you were posting, but you didn't post anything that makes sense.
