Brake "centering" screw stuck: what to do?

One of the screws that centers caliper got stuck. I don't think threads are cross threaded, but I inadvertently stripped the "hex" socket, so I can't screw it in to get out. It is BR-RE011 on the diagram. I tried to dremel the slot on its head to use flat head screwdriver, tried putting WD40 and PB blaster and yet I can't get it out! What would you recommend me to do at this point? Anything can be done to save this caliper - it is a nice one. <br> <br> Many thanks in advance for advice!

Those are dual pivot brakes and the centering screw is not needed at all. I have many sets of dual pivot calipers and have never bothered with the centering screw for anything

You can center the brakes by hand just by rotating the entire caliper and then tightening the anchor nut and pad clearance can be set by adjusting the cable length at the pinch bolt and refined it with the barrel adjuster.

Center the caliper from the mounting bolt. It's what We do with the Single pivot brakes.

Thank you, I will try the magic of heat! Lets see what happens, although repeated applications of PB Blaster? All else fails, I will use pivot bolt. That you!

You remove it, by screwing it through. The flange is designed to prevent you from unscrewing it and losing it. So by cutting the slot, you can't do that any longer since it's flared now.

Just drill it out.

A waste of time. That screw is not needed for any adjustment that can't be done just as easily by other means.
