Quest For Missing Mondonico Frame Barrel Adjuster

Hey, all.

I bought this wonderful Mondonico frame with a Campagnolo groupset and couldn't be happier. Please don't judge the fit because this photo was taken before I adjusted my saddle/etc.

Unfortunately the frame was missing the barrel adjusters that attach to the frame, in order to adjust the shifter cables. The inside is threaded and by best guess for the diameter is 3mm.

I cannot for the life of me find replacement Barrel Adjusters that will fit that size. Does anyone have any ideas where I might be able to acquire the correct component to fix this. With my botched ferrule attempt, the cables go out of wack pretty quickly.

Please help!

Most frames take the same barrel adjusters as rear derailleurs , so that shouldn't be to hard to find at your LBS . another thing to try would be use a inline adjuster .

CSN Gear Cable Adjusters (Pair) (BRK108) - Gear Cables - Ribble Cycles

I went to a few bicycle shops and every option had too large of a thread. 4mm, 6mm. These are smaller. I am assuming 3mm. When I google for 3mm Barrel Adjusters of any kind, I cannot find ones that small.

The link to GSN Gear Cable Adjusters look right but I cannot find a specified size on the website.

.
...I would first attempt to simply buy some adjuster downtube stops like these and simply remove the barrel adjusters and use them.

If that did not work, I would probably just retap those brazed on barrels you have on your frame with a 4mm tap and use 4mm barrel adjusters. That's what I would do. You can get a better fit on your cables without an adjuster if you clip off those housing ferrules and replace them with something like this:

A stepped ferrule, which most bike shops will have and sell to you if you ask nicely.

M3 is pretty small - rear drop adjuster screw size with a 2.4mm minor diameter and drilled for a 1mm or so cable doesn't leave much meat.
I'd roll it into my good hardware store and try different metric screws and determine exactly what thread i was working with.
Honestly if it was me I'd tap it out to M5 for a standard barrel adjuster and be done.
