Shifter, grips, and touch up paint (2013 Trek 820)

Hi everyone,

I picked up this Trek 820 for $40 the other day. I had though about keeping it as a winter rider but decided against it (too small), I'd like to fix it and flip it but need to know what I should do to make the bike worth the money

It needs a new shifter for the front derailleur, new grips, and touch up paint for just under the seat. I'd like to get it to the condition where I can sell it for ~$150 without spending more than $100 (including the $40 initial cost),

I know the shifters are Shimano EF40's
The grips I don't think matter (I have a pair of the ergonomic ones but don't know if I should put those on)
I know absolutely nothing about the touch up paint.

Anything I may have missed? Is the bike worth doing all the work to?

Edit: the parts in the last picture are spares that I have, those shifters came off of my sisters Raleigh (had the installed instead of the twist shifters, switched them back out when we traded them in)

Edit:

Those shifters are brand new, he thought my other sister had twist shifts but she didn't.
