I'm not sure I could measure the change that might occur, if any.

What do you think you could enhance with different derailleur wheels?

I added some ball-bearing wheels to my '92 Trek 1000 with a 105 RD, just because it's massive overkill and they're blue. I didn't notice any enhanced performance.

If you think your derailleur wheels are slowing you down, by all means, spring for the competition pulleys. It's like cleaning out your car: you know it didn't fix anything, but it always seems to run better!

Post a link to these competition pulleys. Maybe somebody has tried them, and can tell you how to avoid being turned into pure energy by exceeding light speed after they're installed!

My work at the auto dealer taught me that a car with a clean windshield runs better! At least the customers seemed to think so. Tire shine too.

The only reason I'd replace a pulley that was OK would be to use a larger idler to increase chain take up capacity on a derailleur that I was running over capacity, ie. The RD is rated for 27t of take up and my gearing needs 30.
