Do internal gear/freewheel hubs still exist?
I was looking at a classic touring bike of 50+ years ago, which had a close-gear 3 speed S/A hub with a 3-speed freewheel and a 2-speed front derailleur. For it's day, this was an incredible gear collection.
I know that there was a Nexus 3speed internal with a 7 speed cassette, but this combo required a 135mm dropout spacing. I'm looking for something that will fit in a 126mm, maybe even a 130mm spacing. Does anything like this exist today?

Look at Shimano Nexus 7-speed.
You can use a double crankset with it, but why?

8-speed is compatible with the 132mm spacing. Sheldon Brown describes a way of converting it to 126mm.

Sachs made a 3-speed IGH fitted with a 7-speed cassette years ago and Bike Friday used them on a lot of their models to avoid a front derailleur and to compensate for the small wheels. Here's Sheldon Brown's (updated by John Allen) article on them:
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/sachs-internal.html
I couldn't find any OLD information in the article but, given the 1980's vintage of some of them, I expect 126 mm was used.

Sturmey Archer thrives after the buy out by Sun Race, in Taiwan..
there , for their large customer, Brompton, make a wider ratio 3 speed with a 2 speed cog driver..
in the Asian, boutique market for Brompton owners,
there is a 3 cog Titanium cluster, that fits in place of the regular 2 ..
I had one of the Ciclo, British machined 3 cog clusters for S/A AW3 hubs, 60 years ago..

Sturmey also makes a three speed hub that works with a cassette of eight or nine speeds.

And SRAM took over the Sachs Dual Drive.
But, I think I read that SRAM may be stopping IGH production, so those may disappear from the new market soon.

Brompton BWR Hubs are 28 spoke hubshells, 117 wide OLD, so 120 wide frame dropouts..
in NY the Brompton dealer, https://www.nycewheels.com/brompton-folding-bike.html
BWR is .64/1/1.57 , the AW3 & BSR are .75/1/1.33.. I have no idea if the drivers can be swapped...
Todd the owner of the Portland Oregon Brompton dealership, Clever Cycles, would know about the Titanium 3 cog cluster,
since he wrote about touring Eastern Oregon using one..
