Clicking Noise
I have finally traced an annoying click on my Felt down tothe seat post. I was the LBS and they gave some grease and carbon paste withthe instructions to lightly grease the lower two thirds of the post and use thecarbon paste for the top one third. I rode 63 hard gravel miles yesterday insilence until the last 3 miles and it now sounds like the click is slowlystarting the creep back. Is there another solution to resolve this annoyance?

Perhaps saddle clamp and/or rails.

Is everything torqued down correctly?

Yes. I also had the bolts on the rails off on Saturday which once retightened may have given a temporary change. I'm going to pull the saddle off and grease the rails, clean the bolts and apply some new Loctite to see if that works. |
My saddle creaked heavily last spring on my commuter.
I pulled the seatpost, clamp and the saddle off the bike and cleaned everything thoroughly including the part of seat tube I could reach. After cleaning everything I greased all bolt threads before putting it back on the bike as well light coat off grease on the seatpost. So far creak from the saddle and seatpost . |
The problem has been solved. The noise was where the saddle rails mate with the saddle. I used a little WD40 on the rail and rode 65 noise free gravel miles.
