Running Two Different Tires

To make a long story short, I bought a set of 700x28 Hutchinson Nitros cheap off Nashbar for road use on my Nashbar CX bike. One of them developed a puncture in it. I still have one left and a I found a Schwalbe Road Plus in 700x28 very local on Craigslist for cheap. I don't want to waste the Nitro and have always wanted to try out a Schwalbe tire. Would there be any issue running the Nitro on the front and the Road Plus in the back?

No worries, unless they look so different that it bothers you.

Using different tires is perfectly OK, sometimes even better.

Any issue? Any?

Yes. The BFP (Bicycle Fashion Police) will be all over you.

I run a Nashbar City Slick 32-559 on the front and a Kenda Kwest 40-559 on the rear of one of my commuters.

If you run into an issue let me know. Right now I've got a Schwalbe Marathon 700x50 on the rear, and a Conti TourRide 700x37 on the front. I've only put about 100 miles on this combination so far, I might be overdue for trouble!

I can't remember the last time I had matching tires. It isn't even noticeable.

I can just feel the snickering as I ride by people who notice my rear tire is a Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 23mm with white sidewall, and my front tire is a Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 23mm with black sidewall.

The subtle weight difference will cause a gyroscopic precession of inertia and eventually after a few miles the rear tire will pass the front.

I always put the new tire on front and when the rear wears out the front goes on the back.
