Stem for Northrock SC7

I have a Northrock SC7. It has an adjustable stem, and the teeth are worn down. At the bike shop they said they'd need to special order the part, which would be $50, so I wanted to see if was possible to find it cheaper. Could someone tell be the right part to look for?

Also, I suppose I could live with a stem that isn't adjustable, as long as it fits.

Just buy a new one it will be cheaper and better. There are many adjustable stems out there. Roger

Adjustable stems are a sales tool only... the correct non-adjuable stem will weigh far less, and cost less, too. Since that weight is high up on the bike, you WILL feel the difference.

find a local shop that sells used parts, or look on your local Craigslist for stems of a similar reach and a lift similar to where you had your adjustable paper weight set at, then save yourself some cash and weight.

Thanks, for the suggestions. I decided to just go on ebay and buy what seemed to be a similar part to the original, since I found it pretty comfortable before it got stripped. However, when I installed it, I realized that the bottom part was a little narrower than the original - about 7/8" instead of 1". Is this a problem?

Yes.

You need to supply good pictures for us to tell you how much of a problem. The range is from don't care to you'll be in the hospital if you are lucky if you ride it.

Well, I'll just buy another one and be more careful this time. I've never done anything like this before.

Like the adjustable stem how? cranked up high? get a fixed one with that angle.
