if the FSA ring is of the correct design for the gearing of your bike, then it SHOULD NOT change the chainline... if you have a ten sp. drivetrain, then you should have a ten sp. FSA chainring, etc... 6, 7, and 8 speed rear uses the same chain rings/gap.
9, 10, and 11 speed use specific chain rings to their respective cassettes/chains.... gap and tooth width may be/are different
there are differences in the derailleurs, too... grouped in a similar manner.
an 11 speed front der. will be noisy as heck if you try to use it with an eight speed chain, and then cross-chain a few rear gears, etc....
