do fsa chainrings work on a SRAM crank?

I got an FSA chainring on my compact Rival crank. It apparently is thicker than the stock chainring, which made me realize they don't necessarily go together. Anyone know before I put a chain on it?

I think that the plate is thicker but teeth are the same- not a problem.

I'm worried about the spacing between chainrings. I guess I could measure.

if the FSA ring is of the correct design for the gearing of your bike, then it SHOULD NOT change the chainline... if you have a ten sp. drivetrain, then you should have a ten sp. FSA chainring, etc... 6, 7, and 8 speed rear uses the same chain rings/gap.

9, 10, and 11 speed use specific chain rings to their respective cassettes/chains.... gap and tooth width may be/are different

there are differences in the derailleurs, too... grouped in a similar manner.

an 11 speed front der. will be noisy as heck if you try to use it with an eight speed chain, and then cross-chain a few rear gears, etc....
