Huffy Cranbrook brake rebuild

I'm very mechanically inclined but new to working on bikes.Rebuilding the hub on a Cranbrook and just can not figure out how to fit the brake pads.I have read everything I could find on the web but is just not clicking for me.Saw the assembled diagram from Parks but it's not clear to me how it fits together.Something is just not clicking for me.Thanks in advance.

The side with the square lip fits in between the two protrusions on the left hand cone, while the beveled side faces the driver/brake actuator. If that isn't clear, perhaps a picture of what you have will help.
