So i agreed to adjust the shifting for a buddy. It was all wonky and is better, but still not great.

Sugino triple 48-38-28 crank
105 STI triple

I set the limit screws so the chain doesnt fall off on either side and also doesnt scrape the FD plates.
It shifts great from small ring to middle to big. It shifts well in all cassette cogs.

But going from the big to small ring, it skips over the middle ring. I got nothin- the bike shifts perfect in all other ways both on the stand and when in use.

Is this because cable tension is too high?
Is this because it isnt a shimano crank?
Is this because STI triples are the devil?

shift into Lowest gear on the Rear
and middle ring on the front

now look at the chain, is there a big gap between the chain an the front derailer inside cage plate?
If there is, try higher front derailer cable tension, so the cage is more outboards on the middle ring position

Thanks, thats effectively what i did to get it all working.
Holy wow that was rough. Makes me appreciate the simple setup and use of bar end and gevenalle front shifting.

The inner plate was too close to the small ring. That didnt affect small and large ring shifting, but messed with the middle ring shift position and trim.
