Campagnolo 2015 Rear mech on 2014 brifter

Hey guys, reading the manual it mentioned that pre 2015 campagnolo parts are not compatible with post 2015. How true is this? I currently have the 2014 record and would like to replace just the rear mech. Seems easier and way much cheaper to get the 2015 version of mech. Is it totally not compatible or some sort of tweaks need to be done?

Any thoughts or links to previously discussed on this (i guess i'm not the first to think of this) is really appreciated. Thanks

The front should work with new or old.
I'm not finding much info on the rear.

I keep meaning to make a device to measure shifter and derailleur pull, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I should have both white label and red label Campy 11 (I'm never sure of the exact years).

Rear mech - really doesn't work. Cable pull ratios are different.

Front mech - doesn't work well, could be done if you were determined but not needed as all pre-2015 gear shift components are still available as spares ... If you use pre 15 shifters / 2015+ mech, you are liable to lose the chain onto the BB shell when shifting big to small (part of the point of the changes in the lever and the two-step downshift is to control the chain better in this operation, esp on compact 50/34 with wide range cassettes), upshift you'll find the cable recovery is wrong and the FD will come up against the outer stop before you have completed a full stroke of the lever which stresses the upshift lever more than it was designed for, so you will probably see reduced lever life.
