Head Tube Damaged Inside

I asked a local bike shop to grease the inside of my head tube and forks while having another job carried out.
The mechanic contacted me and said when he was taking out my forks, a piece of the inside of my head tube fell out.
There is what looks like a plastic ring fitted inside the bottom of the head tube that supports a bearing before inserting the forks. This is broke and half still remains inside. Can this be repaired/,replaced?
My frame is a 2008 Lapeirre X Lite 200 Carbon.
I am new to this forum. I can upload some pictures.

What kind of headset does the bike use? If it's a semi-integrated (aka Zero Stack) headset, you may be describing the bearing cup/seat that presses into the head tube. If so, a new cup can be installed. On the other hand, if the bike was designed for an integrated headset, repair might not be cheap & easy since the bearing seat would've been molded into the frame's head tube.

(I tried looking up the bike on Cane Creek's headset finder to see what kind of headset it uses, but the bike's not listed.)

Try and post the pic to a hosting site then add the link here. It will likely have to be a copy and paste to get there from this end.

I think this bike had a Ritchey Headset. This may help others id the "plastic part". A bushing?

Does your headset look like this?

I suspect this bike had an integrated headset, and what broke is a bonded bearing seat.

I can't be sure without seeing a decent photo of the affected area, but odds are that it can be repaired fairly easily if you can get a replacement for the broken seat. I'd start by emailing the maker and asking for some help.

One review says that " The new frame has carbon cable stops, dropouts and headset cups,"

It would be very strange for a true CF cup (at least a well-made one) to break, no?

Agree with FB: contact LaPierre and ask. If you want more definitive answers, post photos.
