Need help on Front Derailleur for Triple

Compact triple Sugino crank for touring bike. 8 speed. I have used the Alpina-d but was not overly impressed. The old RSX I had actually was pretty good.

Any other choices to look at that people like?

What chainring sizes are you using? And what shifters?

The gentleman I spoke with at Rivendell Bikes says they use this one as standard for all of their triples: https://www.rivbike.com/collections/...derailer-17160

That would only work with friction or MTB shifters.
If you are using indexed road shifters you need a road front derailleur.

I've been fine with friction shifted front derailleurs for over 50 years..

But, yea, STI stands for Shimano Total Integration it's made to all be used as a package ..

all or nothing..?

I'm running a claris triple FD on one of my bikes; it works great.
