pedal grease
Is Phil's a good choice for pedal installation?
For the threads going into the crank arm? Any grease is fine for that.
Yes, Phil's is fine for this, and as noted, just about anything else is also.
I'd save the expensive grease for bearings and more demanding things.
Remember you are not trying to grease to lubricate you are trying to prevent the pedal threads from seizing up, I use "Copper anti seize compound" but as mentioned any grease is better then nothing
I am seizing the opportunity to be a bit pedantic ... but copper & aluminum are a bad combination. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_series
maybe too far down the rabbit hole for our purposes, but maybe not: Anti-Seize Compound |

maybe too far down the rabbit hole for our purposes, but maybe not: Anti-Seize Compound I use cheaper anti sieze mounting paste for those things, saving the dirtier and more expensive copper grease for parts that get hot - mostly motorcycle disk brake calipers and pad sliders. But it works perfectly as an anti seize. So, yes, anti sieze paste is better suited for the application than a bearing grease. |
