is the crankset loose? that can make bad noise when pedaling...

grab pedal arms, then push pull side way... clunk? you need to adjust or replace crank bearings.

no clunk? inspect the big front sprockets... bent? replace or straighten them.

no problem found? the front derailleur needs aligned/adjusted.

Since the bike is brand new, I'll assume it's a relatively simple adjustment, rather than some serious worn or damaged parts.

It's hard to "hear" written sounds, but my first guess (purely an educated guess) is that the front derailleur is mis-adjusted and the chain sprocket slightly warped, as most are, so that it rubs part of the time on the derailleur cage. That would make a sound similar to a saw, as in z-z-z-z-z...........z-z-z-z-z-z......... etc.

You can check visually by looking straight down at the chain inside the derailleur cage as you pedal.

For what it's worth, when pedaling on the road, there's some deflections that won't happen in the stand, which accounts for the problem not showing except when riding.

Of course it could
