Finding a cheap 600mm dia RIM.

Hey there,

I thought this would be an easy task... but I cant find one anywhere!

Im just looking to buy a cheap 600mm diameter rim to build into my first homebuilt wheel around a hub I have.

Anyone have any sites they could recommend?

Which diameter?
There are two very important diameters:
- the ERD - effective rim diameter. Usually seen as where nipple meets rim + nipple flange thickness.
- the BSD - bead seat diameter. This where rim and tire bead overlap, and determines which diameter tires you can use.

And I'll add that using cheap parts in one's first attempts to build a wheel can be a frustrating experience. Wheel builders who cherrish their reputation often have minimal standards of rim condition before they will lace up that rim. The resulting wheel's life is greatly effected by the rim's allowing consistant and proper spoke tension around the entire rim. Finding out that a rim has a flat spot or a bit of potatoe chipness as one tries to tension/true up the newly built rim can be too late. Some sources won't accept a rim's return after it's been laced up (tensioned or not. Much like auto electrical parts or glued sew up tires). Andy.

Or is it a 27" rim for your 1980 Raleigh?
That's a 630mm BSD.

What tire size is the intended rim going to use?
