Bolt-on brake studs?
Any such item exist? The home-built recumbent project I have involves putting a 20" wheel on the front fork, which means I can't use the studs other than as a mounting point for the caliper bracket I fabricated.
The calipers are none to great on this rather heavy bike, so I'm hoping for some method to use the V's. |
How are your welding skills?

Non-existant, actually. That's why I'm asking. I thought I read a thread a while back referring a similar question to BMX suppliers, but I can't find anything.

This is all I could find. I figured if its out there Sheldon would know. I'm guessing they're not out there. Sorry

Thanks for looking! Seems the best solution will be a better caliper on the front end. The bracket I made works fine, but the caliper is a very cheesy single-pivot job, minus even a QR.
Nashbar shows long-reach double-pivot calipers (with QR) for about 30.00 the pair....Might be the way to go. |
An upgrade in the caliper is what I would do. The road calipers of old(especially the horseshoe looking ones) were not that great to begin with. Theres plenty of decent calipers out there, shimano and tektro both have some affordable ones.
Good Luck. |
