Seatpost question for Colnago C50
Good morning. I have a Colnago C50 carbon frame. It has (or had) an FSA seat post measuring 28.0 X 350 and it recently cracked. I tried local bike shops and online and it seems no one (Thomson, FSA etc) makes a 28.0 anymore. Thomson does make a 27.4 and the folks at Thomson said I could use a shim but they said be sure it would work with your Colnago frame. They may have just been trying to be careful in recommending something or are there real concerns about using a shim on this frame? Anybody out there have any experience with using shims on a carbon frame or know where I can get a 28.0 seat post? I tried Ebay but little luck. thanks

Apparently Colnago thinks a shim is fine since they make one. 28mm to 27.2 is a better choice IMO as this is a very popular size, not likely to become obsolete anytime soon. https://www.slanecycles.com/colnago-...SABEgLnUvD_BwE Another choice here but a little longer and cheaper. https://www.wiggle.com/use-sx-seat-po...7c5300011479us Both sites are in the UK but you could probably find a US site or order from your LBS.

Used Colnago posts show up on E-Bay frequently. Prices are all over the place, but posts between $80 and $100 usually sell.
Be careful of aluminum shims and carbon fiber. they can corrode causing a mess.
I had intended to try to make a shim using epoxy and a carbon fiber sleave, but the project got sidetracked.
