Shimano road shifters vs. MTB derailleur?

What Shimano road brifters will index properly with XTR "rapid rise" MTB derailleurs? Sora? 105? Ultegra? Dura Ace?

Thanks!

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

Yeah, they'll index fine but they'll work backward. Moving the little lever will shift you into an easier gear and moving the brake lever will shift into a harder gear. My tandem actually has Ultegra shifters with an XTR rear derailleur although, thankfully, not a rapid rise rear derailleur.

Just to be clear, rear derailleurs OK. Front MTB vs road derailleurs use a different amount of cable pull.
