Bb
Hello, me again.
I'm buying a campagnolo veloce 10 spd ultra torque crank. My bb is italian threaded and when i measured it with a ruler, it was about 68-69mm. Will these cranks fit my frame? (if you need more info pls comment) |
the external bearing for Italian consists of 2 RH threaded 36mm x 24 TPI sub assemblies from Campagnolo, specify Italian with your order
you need the proper specialty installation tool and , a 3/8 or 1/2" square drive torque wrench. the 2 halves of the crank spindle tube meet in the center, enmeshing their teeth .. you already a fairly skilled bike mechanic? Of course (& if answer is No ) you skip the personal tool buying if the bike shop does the job for you. .... |
fietsbob is correct regarding the bottom bracket italian threading. Make sure that both cups are torqued to spec, and since the cups are tightened to the shell, it's smart to have them faced to be sure they're parallel. It's pretty difficult to screw up the ultra-torque crankset install, but be sure to use some grease on the 10mm allen bolt that pulls the two halves of the hirth joint together, and torque to spec.
IMO, the ultra-torque design is way ahead of power-torque in just about every way - but I am sure it costs more to manufacture than power-torque and that's at least one reason that the lower-level Campy cranksets now use the power torque design. I bought a complete Campy Veloce group a year older than current year (when I bought them) just to get the ultra-torque cranks and the ultra-shift shifters. Best year I ever lost. :) |
