Help me confirm I have the right BB for my new Bianchi

Hey guys,

I just purchased a Bianchi Oltre XR4 frameset and plan on building the bike mostly on my own. The specs on the Bianchi site state the bike uses "BB PressFit 86.5x46mm"
I purchased the drivetrain, Dura Ace 9150, through Merlin Cycles with the only info on the bottom bracket being, threaded. Below are the pics of the BB. Thanks!

If your frame requires a pressfit bottom bracket, a threaded bottom bracket will not fit. Shimano does make a pressfit version of the threaded bottom bracket that you bought. Usually, when you order a groupset you have a choice of different bottom bracket standards that you can order, seems you ordered the wrong one

Wheels Mfg does make a sleeve to revert to a threaded BB in a press fit bearing frame.

The bottom bracket you posted is a press fit for mountain bikes so I can't figure out why it came with a Dura Ace crankset.

The choices are purchase the correct PF bottom bracket and buy a different crank. Or as Fietsbob says, by the adapters and use the Dura Ace cranks. The bottom bracket you have won't fit as far as I can tell.

Here's what you have. https://www.artscyclery.com/Shimano_...HBB91241B.html

Never having worked on PF stuff I'm not sure what you have or need but this looks promising.

Well I hope Dedhed is more correct than me. When I searched out that bottom bracket I found this from Jenson
Shimano SM-BB92-41B Bottom Bracket | Jenson USA it states it is for mountain bikes. One of these places is wrong. At any rate your bottom bracket and crank will not mate. Get the converter to make things easier.

"Shimano SM-BB92-41B bottom bracket fits mountain bike frames with shells from 89.5 to 92mm in length are designed for crank spindles of 24mm diameters"

Measure your BB shell width. If it's within these specs it should work with your DA cranks as well. I wouldn't bet my paycheck that this is correct so you might also want to contact Merlin or Shimano. Boy do I miss the time when it was "would you like English or Italian?".

With that extremely expensive frame and the very costly groupset, I would advise taking the frame to a highly qualified shop to have the bottom bracket fitted.

Just the fact that you are here asking this question tells us that you are not 100% equipped with the knowledge or tools for the specific task of matching and installing the bottom bracket...one of the most critical steps in the assembly to ensure long term reliable operation.

I know I wouldn't spend that kind of coin and perform this part of the install in a trial-by-fire approach.

BB PressFit 86.5x46mm is BB386 EVO. You need a BB386 BB for a 24 mm crank.
Or a standard BB386 BB and adapters.
Not going to be cheap.

Looks like the Rotor setup is a reasonable price:

You're missing the critical dimension of 41mm OD bearing in a 46mm ID shell

I think Bianchi made a misprint in their specs that you posted. The BB specs should probably be 86.5mm x 41mm.

If you have the frame, what's the inside diameter of the shell? Is it threaded or not?

This is correct, the Oltre XR.4 uses BB86 - 86.5x41mm. The spec on their web site is a misprint.
