Looking online for a replacement steerer/fork assembly, the results yielded in return seems to point towards a lbs for further assistance.

Do we have a sponsor that we can order TREK parts thru?

I'd like to know the availability & cost (options) if at all possible.

Troul there are hundreds if not thousands of bike shops that sell Trek bicycles. In Michigan there are many and most will have an 800 number to call and ask. I suspect most will want to see the bike before they would order a fork to make sure they get the corract fork. I know I would. Remember almost all forks are slightly different. Roger

Replacement fork are readily available from many sources but, as the saying goes, the devil is in the details.

Obviously the type (road, MTB, Cyclocross etc.) has to match your old one.
Then choose your material of construction; all carbon, steel, carbon legs with a metal steerer, etc.
The steerer diameter and type have to match although a threadless fork can replace a threaded fork with a new headset and stem.
The brake type and mounting has to match. Sidepull caliper mounting hole, cantilever/V-brake studs or disc brake mount.
Finally the axle-to-crown (A-C) dimension and rake should match your old fork or be very close to the old dimensions.

Find a fork that meets these criteria and you have a lot of sources. If you want an exact match to the OEM fork, you are limited to ordering through an LBS that handles that brand as there are no manufacturers I'm aware of that will sell directly to the consumer.

Why not call the Trek dealer nearest you, on the phone, have them order it, and pay shipping if you cannot go there in person..


My LBS re ships Fat Bikes to the Kodiak Island USCG base,
a friend of the shop was transferred there, with his bike(s) he gets buyer's demands no local AK shop will supply..

Theres only so much deer in headlights or broken promises one can take from a lbs.
this is where the last hope in humanity can reassure society is not a total loss...

provided all information they requested, to then take time off work a multiple occasions to find out they ordered the wrong part, made changes to the new part thinking it was needed, ordered another part. New part is not oem replacement when me the customer only agreed to oem new parts to be used. Was given an attitude when they were at fault.

I've found that if they know the brand well enough and knows howto get it, then I'll do business with them.

I would think if you posted the bike and fork you need to replace that would help. I suspect it may be a suspension fork as road forks generally do not need replacing, unless crashed.

If someone here is a distributor for TREK parts, I am game for them being the parts provider. Obtaining the oem one only appears viable in maintaining the unique color offered by TREK.

That is a custom painted fork from a 5 year old bike. I'm fairly sure TREK doesn't have any more of them just laying around. The fork itself is a "SR Suntour NEX 4610, adjustable w/lockout, 63mm travel", which is a low end fork that Suntour no longer makes.

Like we said in the other thread, you're pretty much limited to the shock mfgr's available colors.
The fork is not made by TREK, it's an SR Suntour, and while it's still in production, it's only available in black.

If the forks on your 5-year old bike wore out / broke, then you will have to replace them. There are a lot of much nicer 700c hybrid forks than the one spec'ed as OE on your bike. They just won't match.

If it's that much of an issue to match the colorway, then get a replacement fork and have it custom painted to match.
Or replace your current bike with one that has a working, color-matched fork.

You could also have your old fork rebuilt, but being that it's a basic coil-spring unit with a lockout/damper cartridge in one leg, the cost of service might exceed cost of replacement.

Being that it is a low-end unit, I wonder what better options within reason are available that will be a direct swap?

Back to needing to go to a shop or internet store you trust and ask their recommendation. Anything you get on the net will just be someones opinion or a sales pitch. Roger

I guess I am not understanding something. Shop Service Membership is not known. Just looking for advice to something better than the discontinued SR Suntour NEX 4610 that will be a 1 for 1 swap used with the trek.

Take your bike to an LBS. You will need to get steerer diameter, as well as tube length. Do you need disk mounts or canti / v-brake posts? Are you going to be doing the install, or have the shop do it for you anyway?

Are you looking for an equivalent fork, or an upgrade? Air spring? Remote Lockout? Adjustable damping?
Your fork is 2 or 3 from the bottom of a very large lineup just at Suntour. You could get a RockShok, Fox, or a number of other brands.

I forgot, why are we replacing this fork again?

Might try refurbing the SR-NEX 4610 63mm fork before jumping into a new one. Doing so might be just all it needs.

Trek Is the distributor, they ship to their bike network of shops .. from regional warehouses.

Ruined your relation ship with your nearest Trek dealer? I cannot help patch that up..

The trek retailers around here needs better customer service & communication skills. If that was drastically improved upon, i might be okay with the slow parts ordering or the grossly marked-up prices... just not both.

a relationship hasnt been established as they just come off as "beyond" everyday people. One is unable to network with each other if one side is not willing to understand the situation.

would it be too much for a retailer to think outside the box rather than recommend the corporate solution?

Without starting a new thread, where can i source stem/steerer bushings and associated parts?
I'd rather have the parts upfront then to take it apart and find it needs items later.

Relationships with commercial entities are based on transactions, thus they are easy to establish -- just buy something.

Perhaps you should think inside the retailer's box and try to understand the relationship from their perspective. They cannot sustain their existence unless they make money.
