Clicking noise in certain gear combo

I am running a 50-34 chainring and 11-34 cassette on my 9 speed DA although the rear der in a mountain bike version.

I have been using it for several years without issue. I recently installed a new chain and the cassette is nearly new. When I shift to the 34-34 combo, I hear a intermittent clicking sound. Other gear combos work fine. Not sure if it clicks every revolution but don't think so.

Any idea what could be causing it? I tried adjusting the cable tension with no success but maybe I should try again. It is odd it only happens with the 34-34 combo.

Thanks in advance.

How far is the upper derailleur pulley from the 34 cog? A half turn on the derailleur "b" screw may be what the doctor is calling for.

Verify the cable tension is set properly. Recently my wife's bike had an intermittent click, and after putting the bike on the stand and pedaling slowly, I noticed that the derailleur cage was just slightly off center of the small cog. A 1/2 turn of the adjusting barrel took care of it. Changing the chain may have just made the click more discernible. Good luck. Clicks/creaks can be so annoying.
