Okay I've cleaned the thread up again of the off topic chit chat.
I keep getting notifications and it's hard to sort through those who are chatting and those who are answering the thread. Please feel free to start a new thread to continue your discussion please.
Thanks

I already said I would wait for the end of the process, however had you simply started or even responded later by saying something like,
"I am gathering some info for the site (I presume) and would like to know the following:
Who here works for, owns or manages a bike shop, or did in the past?
Who here is a certified bike mechanic?",
then I would have immediately understood and, frankly, not spent my first post addressing things that did not apply to your query. Others may have been clearer about what you wanted and more willing to disclose their background. It was not until I happened to notice that you were an admin that I began to understand that your query may not have been a personal one.
As to your profile, I believe you misunderstand. I'm not talking about the sidebar info that included bikes, but rather the "About Me" tab that appears next to Visitor Messages on one's public profile. As I said I was just curious.
As I posted before, you are free to take or leave my input. I won't post further on this topic, in order to honor your original intent, and I'm sorry I gnawed on this a bit too long.

For anyone else that works in a bike shop, please post in here that you do. I will keep this thread open until tomorrow morning and then I will make a final post and further contact you all.

I work in a shop. Used to manage a not-for-profit bike shop 2012-2014.
Just started S-Tec a few weeks ago.

I work part time in a small LBS. Learned from working on my own bikes then working on preparing the owners used fleet for resale, then moved to the main shop. No certification but a fair amount of horse sense, I suppose. I repair old, build new, solve problems and train noobs. I'm still learning and the one Certified tech is VERY helpful.
Virtually no work this time of year though.

Thank you for participating.
The reason I posted this question is because I have noticed that a lot of you are NOT members of our Industry related section, and I wanted to give you all access if you qualify. Only one person who posted in this thread IS a member of it so far.
The area I am referring to is where you guys can talk about the newest items coming out, store policies, share new information, tips, talk about your frustrations while working in the shop/store, how you handled certain customers, etc. Shop talk.
My apologies, but you are only allowed in this part of the forum IF you are Industry related, for some information in there is only allowed to those who are privy.
For those who posted in this thread, please contact me if you would like access.
For those who didn't get a chance to post in here, I will do another round later on.
Thank you.
I hope you all understand why I was a tad aloof but hopefully this is all clear now.
