Carbon belt noise

Hello all,

my belt snapped a few days ago and I installed a new one today. After installing the belt, I cycled a few meters around the garage to test it and I noticed that the belt is doing some noise when I push the pedal down with relative strength.
If i push it softly this noise doesn't happen or if I push it hard with the tire in the air, it doesn't happen either. It happens only when I'm on top of the bike and pushing it hard.
I'm not sure if this is because the belt is new, or if it is sprocket alignment or anything else.

Here is how it sounds:

Anybody had this problem?

The belt is a Gates Carbon Drive CDX Centertrack-Belt with 118T.

You might have it over tight. Cog belts do not need to be drum tight.

I had one make noise recently because my alignment was badly off. That was a consistent noise though. Yours is intermittent.

Hi, This bike under warranty, Valer? ___ The big selling point of the belt drive is less maintence, quieter. No derailler hanging halfway down to the pavement. And the best part is, no greasy right pants cuff. I'm into chains & derailers. My second city bike had a, triple crank, with a Shimano Mega Range Free wheel. It's first gear, lower than the diameter of its tires. Just for one hill, riding home. cheers CL

Radial run-out?

Were you ever able to fix the noise? I have a belt rubbing noise on my CDX and the Gates representative says it might be "radial run-out", which means that the crank wheel might not be perfectly centered. As a result, tension in the belt will vary widely as I crank around the belt.

In my case it was basically belt tension. I fixed the tension and it runs smoothly again.
