Need some help with an MTB headset

I need to replace the headset on my Giant XTC mtb, but I'm not sure which is the correct one to use. I haven't been able to identify the year for this frame either, which is complicating the problem.

The fork is a Rockshox Sid, with a 1.125 OD steerer. I *think* the headset is this one, but I'd like to get some confirmation before I order it.

Here's a photo of the frame and fork to help narrow down the year.

Thanks in advance.

As you said "replace" the headset I assume you have the old one to measure from. Andy

Yes, I can measure the old one, but I don't see dimensional specs for the headset that *appears* to be the right one. I haven't popped the cups out of the headtube yet, so I don't know the ID of the headtube, which would be a fairly critical dimension.

I was hoping that someone would say "I know what year frame that is, it's a XXXX". Maybe that will happen, maybe not. Even if that information doesn't resolve the headset question, it would still be good to know.

I think that if I don't have any definitive info by Monday, I'll order the headset I linked to, after I check their return policy in case it doesn't fit.

So, it'd be considerably more helpful if you would've taken a closer photo of the headtube and headset rather than a low resolution photo of the whole bike.

If the headset cups recess into the frame but have a lip external to the frame, you need a zerostack for a 44mm headtube headset like the one you linked to. From the photo it's reasonably clear it's not an external cup headset. If there are bearings slip fit directly into an integrated cup, you need a IS headset. Also headsets can have a mix of any of the three common headset types.

The headset cups do have a lip exposed, so I've gone ahead and ordered the headset I linked to. I appreciate the confirmation, Hopefully, this is the last part I need for the XTC rebuild.

When It's finished I'll post some photos - I would still like to determine the year for the frame, if for no other reason than to satisfy my own curiosity.
