Crank/BB out of balance

. . . was time to replace the chain. With chain off, decided to spin the crankarms around several times- they settled at the same place each time- out of balance. Should I care? Ive seen on this forum that wheel imbalance is np. Using a cable tie, I even tied a flat washer at the high spot (temporarily), just to see if it would have any effect- not really. pls advise.

there are a lot of individual's obsessions expressed in this forum..

you were OK with it before you took the chain off, riding, right?

Do you think it is actual balance, or just that your BB seals tend to have a hair more friction at one spot?

Either way, you shouldn't care.

I dont think its friction- it settles in that spot

Don't overthink this. It's not a problem unless you can feel friction.

DO NOT worry about it.

There is probably more imbalance in the weight of your legs than in the crank. Don't go check the balance of your tires; imbalance there is also imperceptable.

Do you spin a couple thousand RPM? If you do spin that fast, then have you checked to see that both feet, shoes and socks are the same mass?
