About a a month and a half ago, my 04 Manitou Black Platinum (i got this one after my Manitou Siz snapped) started goign south. First the lockout started to go, wouldn't lock out all the way. and when it is not locked out, the travel started to go also, didn't feel anything like when it was new. So i posted here, and they suggested adding more oil. So i read the manual, find out how much oil should be in there, and what type of oil, so i go to the lbs and buy some. I come home, check how much oil is in, and sure enought about 15mm to little. So i add it. Put it back together, and works like new. By the way, Answer customer service told me to do this also. About a 2 weeks later, out of the blue almost, my lock-out works halfway, and when it is not locked out I can't tell the difference from when it is locket out. I go over a curm and it bottoms out. On flat ground, when i stand up and pedal, it bottoms out. So i assume, it needs more oil. It is short a little oil, so i add it. Put it back together, its the same, check it again, oil is fine, but doesnt work.

At MTBR about 2 or 3 other people have had the same problem, and they have sent their fork back to Answer and go a part replaced. Is that the route i should go? My grandpa bought the fork for me, so I do not have a recipt (bought from Nashbar). Is this going to conflict with sending it to Answer? Also do I have to pay for shipping the for there and back or....?

Thanks in advance
-Matt

Sounds like you should call a rep at manitou. Chances are this is not a rare prob, so they can tell you the best plan of action.

Call Manipoo and tell them what you told us. If they have any integrity as a company they'll take care of you.
