I did that for a fixed gear commuter, after discovering what a pain it was to pull the wheel off to fix a flat.

how do these help remove a wheel?

I replaced the steel M5 OEM mounting bolts for my fender stays with #10-32 Nylon bolts as a safety measure. They are more than strong enough to hold the fender securely but would shear off if something got caught between the tire and fender.

This FG had track ends (rear facing dropouts), so to take the wheel off, it has to come straight back. The fender is in the way. They make it easier to pop off and loosen it up to give you room.

Now that is a good idea!
