The grease you show is just excess that has leaked out of the hub or freehub body. It serves no purpose except as a dirt catcher. Clean it off and do not replace it with anything.

I do lube the lock ring threads. I also often scrape out old grimy grease from the end of the freehub body. Andy

So in all cases i should remove residual grimy grease , if i'm to grease anything it will be lock ring thread / free hub body thread .. grease should Not be applied on the visible part of free hub bearing ... Am i right ?
