Shimano sealed bbs are probably the cheapest. I’d try to stick with the same spindle length if possible.

Taking it you mean the BB, not the chainset, for budget, when I was looking for a ultra budget build last year, I chose a Neco branded square taper BB, which was about half the price of a Shimano UN54/55, so far it's done a over 1200km (will hit 1300km later today) with no issues.

Why replace it? Perhaps it can be serviced. And if the spindle races are galled, as is somewhat common, try to find a co-op in your area where you'll likely find a bin full of them.

UN26, find a co-op, or buy one on sale at REI. Cheapest option will be co-op.

The less money you have, the more resourceful you need to be. I take it as a challenge, it can be fun doing more with less!

If money is super tight, I replaced cups and shaft with coop parts once for $7. If no coop check if a local lbs has a parts bin.

I've used numerous Neco products, bottom brackets and headsets and found them to be satisfactory.

Cheapest option is to keep riding it until you save up $15-20 to buy a replacement.

I've never gone wrong with the Shimano UN26, and that's actually where I buy bottom brackets, no google required. It's on my way home. Are you saying you prefer the Neco to the Shimano UN26?

No, but at the same time, I wouldn't have 'quoted' another user when suggesting another product, as it looks like your neglecting, rather than complementing the previews comment. Or perhaps said, 'here another option at a great price'
