Seatpost/seat binderHelp!

Ok so am planning on buying a new seatpost. But I don’t know what size to get. So I have a size 27.2 seatpost and a size 31.8 seat binder. So does that mean a size 28.6 seatpost will fit inside the 31.8 seat binder. Or does that size of binder only work with a 27.2 seatpost? Please help I never knew this would be so confusing

Does your bike currently have a 27.2 seatpost? You need a 27.2 seatpost.

The seat post fits inside the seat tube and has to be the proper diameter, 27.2 mm in your case, assuming the current seat post fits correctly. The binder fits OUTSIDE the seat tube and has to match it's outside diameter. Since seat tubes vary in wall thickness, etc, the binders will vary and you need one to match the right diameter.

BTW, where did you come up with the 28.6 mm diameter? It doesn't match anything else.

Thank you so much. I got the 28.6 mm diameter from the different sizes the seatpost I wanted came in. I didn’t know I had to use one specific size but now I do.
