1x11 XTR Di2 setup with Dura Ace 9170 shifters - gravel bike

Does anyone here have some insight on how to set this up successfully? I've lost two batteries and a wireless unit trying to make this work. My mechanic and I have it working now but E-tube does not seem to like the combo and loses the battery if you try to upgrade the firmware or change anything. I really would like to get the wireless unit back online and be able to program the shifter buttons to work with my bike computer. What's the trick?

You should be fine just connect it to the computer and make sure everything is properly updated. Sometimes the wireless unit is a little wonky so PCE-1 should fix that right up as Reptilezs had mentioned.

I know mixing MTB and Road derailleurs doesn't work for whatever dumb reason but the shifters work fine so long as both of the derailleurs are the same as each other which in your case doesn't matter as it is 1x. We built up a hybrid for a customer which we had bought XT rear and attempted to use the XT front derailleur as well but no mounts on the frame as it was a hybrid so we tried an Ultegra or DA (can't remember) front mech and that didn't work so we had to swap out to a DA rear mech and that worked with the XT shifters. It was all whacky and I don't know why Shimano can't make everything place nice. However on the cross build we did we used Ultegra Shifters and a XT rear mech and that was just fine and dandy and the guy we sold it to loves the bike.

Thanks, all! Looking at the latest Di2 compatibility chart it looks like this should be done as an MTB setup, not Road. MTB is where both the Dura Ace 9070 shifters and XTR Di2 rear derailleur are listed. I still need to check all of the other components to make sure there isn't something else that is not compatible. Theses include an internal seatpost battery, junction box under the stem and a wireless unit. Pretty sure we tried the MTB setup. Maybe it was just bad luck.

I have several Di2 chargers, but don't think I own the SM PCE-1 box, and am not sure if my mechanic does. He should, though, right? I've used the charger box to connect to my computer. Is this not the correct or best way to do this? Is the SM PCE-1 something good to own given that I have three Di2 bikes?
