Pedals skip but no gear change

My pedals jump but the gear does not change. Mostly in small chainring up front. Any suggestions?

This is a common question. The usual list of suspects are a worn chain and/or cogs (rear), worn chain ring, bent/twisted/damaged chain link or tooth, rear der pulley not fully centered under intended cog.

A worn chain or teeth will usually mesh well when there's no pedal pressure but cause problems when pedaling hard. Andy

...also may occur with bad chainline, such as riding the small chainring (esp. on triple) with small rear cogs.
