Sticky sram shifter

Not my video, but experiencing the same problem. The inners of the lever aren't clicking back into place properly after shifting to the big ring, thus not allowing me to shift back into the small ring. Anyone know what the cause it? I have the shifter off and apart, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious issues. What about that spring some of the comments mention? How can I be assured it is operating correctly?
