New fork rubbing on head tube
I replaced the tapered fork on my 29" Specialized hardtail with a new one. The new fork won't seat all the way and is rubbing on the headtube. The old fork didn't have a crown race either. Any ideas?

Ugh! too bad you didn't see the crown/headtube contact before use. I suspect the old fork had a molded in lower bearing seat (or small conical feature that nestled into the lower bearing). The first solution (beside going back to the old fork) is to get a crown race that both fits the headset lower bearing spec and the fork's too. Andy

You need a crown race in there.
Probably the easiest solution (unless you can ID the brand of headset currently fitted, and the required crown race.), as you don't have a crown race from the old fork, is to get a new lower bearing assembly with crown race.
Cane Creek sell sub-assemblies , uppers lowers etc (any good LBS should have them/be able to get them)

To me it looks like the head tube still has the lower headset race mounted. And that you’ve jammed the steerer tube into the lower HS race.
Are you sure that’s a compatible fork?
Or are you perhaps trying to fit a 1.5” tapered fork to a 1.25” tapered head tube?
