What a helpful contribution to the thread. :wtf:

You seemed quite determined to have me state it plainly, so I stated it plainly. I also fail to see how my opinion on the look of the saddle (worn or otherwise) is somehow considered unhelpful, while yours is?

Thanks everyone! I was worried that the saddle would fall apart with further riding in the rain. Glad to hear it won't and that it's merely minor cosmetic wear.

Leave a plastic bag over it until you know it won't be raining,
stuff it underneath the saddle,
so to have it handy when you park the bike..

Given Brooks saddle theft is not rare, hiding it under a plastic bag
may help with that, too..

if you buff shoe polish really well, it doesn’t stain, particualrly on the saddle nose where no part of your person should be making contact anyway.

FWIW, my 45 year old B66 saddle on my commuter bike will still stain light colored shorts.

That's not surprising, but I'll humor you anyway. Stating my opinion was an effort to reassure the OP that the saddle in question was not permanently damaged, and that a certain amount of visible wear is normal and even attractive. Your post was simply combative, inexplicably taking umbrage with my opinion, and offering nothing in the way of help or advice to anyone. Now, be assured that whether you understand the difference or not, I'm not going to continue bickering with you about this. Happy holidays.

No kidding. I have a few years old honey colored Brooks pro that doesn’t stain at all.I also got caught in a downpour, which left some water marks but the dye didn’t fade. My wife has a decades old brown B72 that I touched up with shoe polish when I refurbed a 60s Dawes bike for her. She hasn’t complained about staining but maybe she just hasn’t noticed.

Well no, you aren't correct in your assertion, so there is nothing to "understand." You asserted that a worn Brooks is attractive. I stated otherwise. This, in reaction to a post asking about the polishing a worn saddle. Both are valid replies, they just happen to sit on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I realize that for some lonely people, arguing with strangers on the Internet can be a means to fill an otherwise empty existence, as they imagine that their words confer an importance or significance upon themselves that they lack in real life. And as sympathetic as I am to their plight, I'm not at all inclined to entertain those afflicted, as doing so seems to only encourage them and thus prolong the correspondence. So please forgive me if I ignore your inevitable future attempts at gaining my attention. My interest and my patience have expired.

Sorry, but you are off-target once again. I have better things I could and would rather be doing than correcting you, but you see I feel some sort of responsibility to be a good, productive member of society. Conversing with you on this thread has been my way of giving something back. As you have probably noticed, our society (nationally, globally) isn't exactly at a high point these days, and so working to adjust thinking like yours is my small effort toward restoring it to its former glory.
