Thanks for the reply guys, will have to take it to the bike shop this week... kinda annoying but oh well..

Don't know where you would find "dry ice" these days, but this might work (old trick for removing cylinder sleeves from a motorcycle engine). Chip the dry ice so you can get it inside the seat post. Wrap some HOT towels around the seat tube. The dry ice will "shrink" the seatpost and the hot towel will "expand" the seat tube--might allow you to pull it out with a coat hanger.

...and if it is a tall bike he might be able to fit 3 in the seat "pipe"!
