Ultegra triple question

My Ultegra 9 speed shifts pefectly from the small up to the large chainring. However, when I shift back down to the small ring, it takes three clicks, not two! The first click sometimes will drop the chain to the middle chainring, but not always.

If one click drops the chain to the middle chainring, then it takes two clicks to get it to the small ring. If one click takes it to the middle ring, then it takes two more to drop it to the small ring. What wrong?

You calling the trim positions clicks? If so you cah shift right thru them. Otherwiwe, www.parktool.com repair section has the drill on derailer adjustment.Start at the BEGINNING.

I'll agree with sydney on this one. I was chasing my FD adjustment all over the place, until I actually printed out the directions from Parks, and started from scratch. Didn't take long at all, and now it shifts quite nicely. It will work if you follow the directions EXACTLY, if you start doing it any-which-way you may have a hard time getting it right. Once it's tuned by the book, then you can make any small adjustments that are required to get it perfect for you.

If I had to make a guess, I'd suspect that the high limit is set a bit too far out. Follow the directions and it will get it just spot-on.
