Adjusting Mavic brake spring

I have a set of Mavic brake calipers. The springs do not function properly in one of them. I want to adjust it to work properly. However, I do not know in what direction/order to loosen or tighten the bolts to do this.. I took it apart and see how it works but I am not having success. How is it done?

There are two common adjustments. One is that you can pop the spring out of the tabs that hold them in and bend them up a bit. Before I do that (which is a last course adjustment), I back off the nut in front of the brake a bit. That will loosen it up and should improve the spring action. The key is to make it as loose as possible with little or no play. Sometimes there is a threaded piece behind the nut and you lock the two together so that the allen nut doesn't work it's way loose.

There are actually 3 nuts on the front and one on the back. There is the hex nut on the front and 2 others you can adjust with a spanner....all are independent. And the one on the back. One spring up front and one on the back. I've already made it loose/tight and all that. And took it completely apart. I think its just a matter of turning the front and back the right way and amount. Right now I only end up with no spring resistance no matter what I do.
