Converting Sram Hydraulic Shifters to/from 1x and 2x

I have the latest Sram Rival 1 group which has no front derailleur or shift paddle on the left shifter/hood. From what I see the left shifter is the same as a regular 2x shifter just without the SRAM double tap lever assembly. Can I simply buy the guts of the lever (see picture below, found some on eBay: https://ebay.us/r3jYvj) and turn it into a 2x shift lever? At $35 that would be much more affordable than getting another shifter. If so is it a pretty easy process or am I going to need the skills of a Swiss watch maker?

Alternatively, I could remove the shift/double tap mechanism from my right hand SRAM shifter/hood to make it a sleek single speed cyclocross machine? I've seen some tutorials for the older generation SRAM shift levers but not for the hydraulic versions. Thanks!

Being in doubt why not just buy another left brifter./ brake master? bleed drain the brakes, , swap levers refill the system, & sell the other lever on eBay....

Does the left shifter have the ratchet assy inside to attach the cable to? Also check to see if the holes are and giude are there for the cable to get to the ratchet.

Good thinking, going to take a look to see if it has the guide holes.

Looks like there is way more going on in there than the parts kit I found. Sure would be nice if the shift mechanism popped in and out easily.
