Cable Rub on Campy Centaur FD

OK, installing a brandy new Centaur groupset on my recently scored Waterford (preowned).

As the title states, the cable rubs on the front derailleur near a pivot, Campy's tech manual states if this happens you need a special clip (FD-CE011 is the part number).

Before I blow 12 bucks on this little widget does anyone know if it actually does the trick?

Any possibility I am missing something here. Cable routes under BB and up to derailleur, tried shifted cable guide a bit, but no go. Seems straightforward, but you never know with these guys.

As always, thanks for any help.

Yes, the FD-CE011 typically moves the cable out enough that it won't hit the pivot. Campagnolo should just include this cable plate with every front derailleur, I swear I've needed to install 1 on every Campag FD I've installed recently.

RGMN,

Thanks for info, I'll order one up.

Hooked up RD and can't get it to shift at all thru the 11 cogs. Disconnecting cable from derailleur and using lever or button right hand shifter only does like 3 clicks.

What am I missing here.

Thanks

Is the cable end properly seated in the RH shifter? It sounds like the shift spool is only rotating 3 shifts amount, like something is jamming it from the full rotation. Andy

Check this thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-m...er-jammed.html

Yeah, it was bugging me, so took a quick look this morning before work. Looked up where cable end should be and realized ratchet (or spool) is not unwinding all the way when pressing thumb button. Not sure how this happens as unit is brand new. Will check link above when i get another free moment here.

Ughh, that is exactly it. Any tips on how to unwind or free it up without dismantling my new lever and really making a mess of it. Thanks again.

You might want to contact Graeme (gfk-velo) directly and see if he has any suggestions. I've found him to be incredibly friendly and helpful.

Steelman, you should start a new thread about the RD issue.

Steelman54 03-11-19 10:10 AM

Aubergine, good point. Will do

Appears to be fixed as described in new post! We'll see once I get it set up correctly. Back to ordering the FD CE011 bit.
